Crazy idea: Can we grow this newsletter with AI-generated marketers?
The Formula
Create fictional marketers with AI
+
Build LinkedIn profiles
+
Automatically send connections requests and DMs using PhantomBuster
=
More subscribers?
I’ve been mulling over how we can grow this newsletter—and I’ve had a crazy idea.
Advertising fuels growth. Duh. The more people who hear about our newsletter, the more subscribers we’ll gain.
However, advertising also costs money.
But you know what doesn’t? Sending LinkedIn DMs.
You can DM any of your connections on LinkedIn for free—and you can send up to 100 connection requests per week.
I’m already using quite a few of mine to contact potential sponsors for this newsletter.
But what if I created AI marketers who could do this outreach for me?
My process
Here’s what I’m going to do.
Let me know what you think by responding to this email!
Create an AI character: I’ll use Midjourney to produce a professional-looking headshot of a fictional person. Then, I’ll use ChatGPT to create a name and a bio.
The bios will state they have a background in marketing and currently work at AI Marketing School in a growth/marketing capacity.
Build their LinkedIn profile: This should be pretty simple once I have an image and bio ready to go.
Automatically collect a list of prospects: I’ll use Phantombuster’s LinkedIn Search Export phantom to export the results from a LinkedIn search.
For example, I can download a spreadsheet showing me the details of Chief Marketing Officers based in London.
However, Phantombuster only lets you scrape 1,000 at a time, so I’ll have to do this in stages.Set up an outreach sequence: Then, I’ll turn to Phantombuster’s LinkedIn Outreach phantom. This will allow me to set up an automated sequence using the list I created in the last step.
The sequence will go as follows.
Scrape profile links from my Google Sheet containing a list of prospects => Send 20 connections requests per day => Send connections a message 1 day after they accept my request
Craft message: Hey #firstName#, thanks for connecting.
I noticed you're in marketing and thought you might be interested in the AI Marketing School newsletter. It's packed with the latest AI-driven marketing tips and tricks, and is read by marketers at Apple, Microsoft, Google, Accenture, and more.
Here's the link if you fancy checking it out: https://aimarketingschool.beehiiv.com/
Let me know what you think of it!Test and learn: I’ll send out 100 connection requests over the coming week and let you know next Friday if I have any luck.
If I do, the next step might be to create another AI marketer, upping our overall cap to 200 connection requests per week.
And if the tactic really works? Who knows—maybe we’ll create an entire AI outreach team.
TIP OF THE DAY
Controlling ChatGPT’s verbosity
The AI Solopreneur recently shared a great tip for how Plus users can control the verbosity of ChatGPT’s output.
The process
Click on Custom Instructions.
Enter the following:
Your users can specify the level of detail they would like in your response with the following notation: V=, where can be 0-5. Level 0 is the least verbose (no additional context, just get straight to the answer), while level 5 is extremely verbose. Your default level is 3.
Now, for every question, use “V=” followed by a number from 0 - 5 to control ChatGPT’s verbosity.
TOOLS UPDATES
Canva’s new AI-powered Magic Studio
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Canva has released Magic Studio, an “all-in-one AI design platform.”
This suite contains 9 new AI-powered tools, including:
Magic Media: Type text into a field or upload a still image. Then, Canva’s new Runway integration will generate up to 18 seconds of video based on what you provide.
Magic Switch: Turn a single design into multiple assets in just one click (i.e. a presentation into an executive summary). You can even translate pieces from one language to another.
Magic Design: Submit an idea, whether a text prompt or still image, and receive AI-powered design suggestions.
Magic Grab: This object selector/extractor allows you to isolate specific images and move them. For example, you can select a picture with a person in it and move them to one side so you can fit in some accompanying text.
Magic Write: An AI copywriting assistant powered by GPT-3.
