EXPERIMENTS
We’ve created our own AI influencer
Last week, we asked you for some ideas about what AI marketing experiments we could run.
There was one that caught our attention: creating an AI influencer.
AI influencing is big business—and with tools like Midjourney, it’s never been easier to create your own virtual influencer.
So, that’s exactly what we’ve done.
Introducing: Naomi Knight.
(Go follow her on Instagram!)
Our Strategy
Women dominate influencer marketing, so we decided to opt for a female AI character.
However, we didn’t want to create yet another scantily-clad bombshell like Milla Sofia (61k followers on Instagram). Social media already has more than enough of these influencers.
We also wanted to avoid following a stereotypical representation of a certain demographic, like the ultra-Gen Z Lil Miquela (2.7m followers on Instagram).
Our goal? To create a character that would stand out rather than fitting in.
We thought it’d be interesting for them to reflect the ‘Outlaw’ Jungian archetype. This would appeal to brands that shared these same rebellious, brave, and bold characteristics.
Think Doc Martens, Harley Davidson, Levi’s, etc.
Our Process
Create a character in Midjourney.
Here’s the prompt we used:An ultra - realistic photograph captured with a Sony α7 III camera, equipped with an 85mm lens at F 1. 2 aperture setting, portraying a woman in her 20s with a cool cyberpunk aesthetic, purple straight hair bob with blunt bangs, an angular face, tattoos, leather jacket, boots standing in front of a motorcycle in an abandoned car park. The background is gritty and it's night time. Artificial lights drastically illuminate the subject’s face and hair, casting a raw but powerful image. The image, shot in high resolution and a 16: 9 aspect ratio, captures the subject’s personality and aura with stunning realism –ar 16: 9 –v 5. 2 –style raw
Generate multiple images using that same character.
We saved the image to our computer, uploaded it in a DM to the Midjourney Bot, clicked to make it larger, right-clicked, selected ‘Copy Image Address’, and used it at the beginning of every prompt.
Fine-tune the creations.
We used the V, U, and remix buttons until we had images we were happy with.
Create a backstory in line with the Outlaw brand archetype.
Naomi has tattoos, purple hair, travels around Europe in a van with her two pet Rottweilers, and is a freelance digital marketing consultant. She likes motorcycles and invests in crypto.
Fairly unconventional, right?
Our Top 3 Priorities
Priority #1: Create Naomi’s tone of voice (TOV). We’ll use ChatGPT to help us with this process, create TOV guidelines, and devise suitable captions for each post.
Priority #2: Regularly publish. Hootsuite recommends 3-5 times per week. Constantly creating engaging content increases the chance we’ll gain followers, keep them over time, and get picked up by Instagram’s algorithm.
Priority #3: Engage with relevant accounts. This means commenting on their posts, following them, chatting via DMs (using ChatGPT to help us), etc.
Fortunately, Naomi’s backstory gives us a few different levers to pull. We can engage with creators that speak about digital nomadism, tattoos, motorcycles, van life, crypto, Rottweiler (Rotty) ownership, and digital marketing.
Our Goals
Gain 100 followers by the end of the month
Gain 1,000 followers by the end of the year
Have our first sponsored post within the next 6 months
Check in next week to see if we achieve goal number 1 or fail miserably!
