AI IN ACTION

Here’s why you should offer to tip LLMs

LLMs are complex entities.

On the face of it, they’re machine without feelings. Duh.

Yet, there seem to be compelling arguments that you should be nice to them. Or at least treat them like another human.

Research shows that LLMs perform better when being told “take a deep breath”.

And now, it appears that ChatGPT performs better when offered a tip for good work.

Twitter user thebes showed that it gives longer answers when a tip is on offer, while our own research found tips can improve the quality of its responses.

What we found

I asked ChatGPT: “Create a section about AI use cases for SMBs. Start with marketing. Give me sections for each use case, dig into the various examples, and highlight certain useful tools.”

Here’s a section showing its first response.

Pretty basic, right?

And here’s what happened when I offered a $200 tip if it told me something I don’t already know.

Much more advanced.

Note: When I asked how to send over the tip, it refused on the grounds that “as an AI developed by OpenAI, I'm unable to accept tips or payments.”

So don’t worry—your money’s safe. Phew.

AI MARKETING OFFERS

How to get 3 months’ worth of AI voices for free

AI text-to-speech leader ElevenLabs has launched a Grants program giving small companies (max 25 full-time employees) 3 months’ worth of AI-generated voices for free.

This is perfect if you’re considering using AI voices for your content. For example, to create social media video/audio assets, to narrate your course, or to create how-to videos about your product.

Here’s what you need to know about the program.

The ElevenLabs Grant Program - FAQs

  • Who’s it for?: Small companies (max 25 employees) with “a product or project that needs human-like AI voices”.

  • What’s the deal?: Successful applicants receive 11 million characters for free over a 3-month period. This is the equivalent to 200 hours’ worth of audio.

  • Is there a catch?: This program is meant to sweeten the deal for long-term partnerships. Therefore, “One-off projects and campaigns will not be considered.”

  • What happens at the end of the 3-month period?: You will automatically transfer over to the Enterprise plan, which costs $1,100 per month. However, you can choose to switch to a cheaper plan or cancel altogether.

Apply for the Grant program here.

Visual Electric: Image generation for creatives

Midjourney and DALL·E 3 are great—but they don’t give you a ton of control when editing images. For example, you might ask for a small adjustment only for the new version to be totally different, which can be endlessly frustrating.

Enter: Visual Electric.

With Visual Electric, you can create AI images from scratch, swipe through several variations to pick your favorite, and precisely edit them as you wish.

Perfect for marketers looking for an extra level of control over AI-generated designs.

Move over Runway, there’s a new AI video generator in town. Pika has recently hit the headlines with its ultra-realistic AI video generation capabilities. Check out these examples to see for yourself: 1 & 2.

Learn how Google employees got ChatGPT to spit out its training data and users’ personal information simply by asking it to repeat the word “poem” forever. Yikes.
